Developmental Disabilities Day at the Legislature Main Event: February 9, 2021

This year, the Developmental Disabilities Coalition is coordinating a week of virtual advocacy and opportunities for information and connection with legislators from February 9-12.
To kick things off, we will be holding our main DD Days event on Tuesday, February 9th, from 9 to 11 AM. If you have participated in DD Day in downtown Annapolis in years past, this is your opportunity to take part online, from home in 2021. This year, the event will be FREE to attendees due to a generous grant from The Developmental Disabilities Council, and hard work/coordination from all members of the DD Coalition!
Tune in to the Live Stream on the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Coalition Facebook page tomorrow at 9 a.m. Join the event to kick off the week and to learn about the 2021 session priorities.
All event materials, including fact sheets and advocacy tool kits (materials to use throughout the week), will be available on the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council website prior to the event.
From Tuesday to Thursday, you can also make an impact through your advocacy on social media! Each day has a theme for you to share your story with friends, family, and legislators. The themes each day are:
  • Tuesday — Community For All!
  • Wednesday — DSPs Make The Difference!
  • Thursday — Expectations Matter!
To download the latest bill tracker, visit this link. For fact sheets on Adult Changing Stations, the Direct Support Professional Workforce, Voting, and more, visit the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Coalition website.
Additionally, information on other virtual advocacy opportunities during the week will be posted on the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council website as we get closer to the headliner event! English and Spanish Closed Captioning will be available for those who need it on February 9.
For any questions or accommodations to support your participation, please contact Luc Chausse, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at The Arc Maryland, at lchausse@thearcmd.org.
Members of the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Coalition are The Arc Maryland, Disability Rights Maryland, The Maryland Association of Community Services, The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council, and People on the Go of Maryland.
