I want to thank my step-mom who has been my support since I was 17 and I am now 50"
William "Bill" Wedeking

The Self-Advocate of the Year Award is presented to the people who have made significant progress in meeting their own goals in their personal or professional life.  Over the past year, William “Bill” Wedeking has been the best advocate for himself. He secured a position as a volunteer greeter at Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center through a friend and he has become a popular member of the Grassroots team.  In addition, Bill has started a job preparedness program at Howard Community College and is pursuing the use of public transportation to reduce his dependence upon The Arc staff when he wants to go out into the community, where he is always making friends because of his outgoing personality and great sense of humor.
