The Arc of Howard County, Inc. provides supports for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities that are designed to respond to each person’s needs and desires, as well as to reflect and appreciate each person’s unique personality. Services are designed first and foremost for people with disabilities, however, we recognize the importance of the family and legal role in supporting people throughout their lives. The Arc’s staff bring commitment, experience, and education to support and promote opportunities for people to achieve full community lives.
Services
The Arc of Howard County offers a wide range of services for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and their families. We provide direct support and services that enable people to lead full rich lives in the community.
Full Community Life At The Arc of Howard County
We work every day to help adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities enjoy full community life—just like everyone else. This includes being listened to, knowing your choices will be honored, spending the day with the people you choose in the places you choose, and working at a job that is challenging and rewarding.
As the county grows, so does the need for The Arc’s services. It is estimated that 1 family out of 10 in America will be directly affected by intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. And since our clients never outgrow our services, they will be with us for life, from adults to senior citizens.
Services From One Person To Another
During the past 62 years, The Arc has grown from a small group of parents to one of the county’s largest employers. Today, we will touch the lives of more than 750 individuals. We have more than 300 staff members and hundreds of volunteers who fulfill our mission everyday.
