Our support extends beyond helping individuals with developmental disabilities find jobs. After the person starts working, our staff continues to provide the supports needed to maintain a successful work relationship between the employee and the employer. Employers find many benefits in hiring individuals through our program. Not only are they presented with potential workers who come with a vested interest in the job, the employees have a reliable support network behind them.
Today you will find individuals with cognitive and developmental disabilities working in retail stores, restaurants and hotels, schools and offices. They are also working in manufacturing, janitorial services, landscaping and construction.
Dream jobs have been found at a motorcycle dealership, a pet store, the county’s Fire and Rescue Service and a local scientific laboratory. Those in The Arc’s employment program are our co-workers, earning wages, paying taxes, being contributing members of the community.
