Your action is needed NOW to help people on the DDA Waiting List in the highest crisis category get the assistance they desperately need!
(SB 413/HB 1499)
Developmental Disabilities Administration – Crisis Resolution and Prevention Resolution Services – Funding and Reporting
CALLS AND E-MAILS ARE NEEDED TO:
SPEAKER MIKE BUSCH
HGO COMMITTEE CHAIR PETE HAMMEN AND MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE
APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE CHAIR MAGGIE MCINTOSH AND MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE
While the Senate has passed SB 413, Senator Guy Guzzone’s bill to mandate that the Governor include $3.5 million annually in the budget for people in the Crisis Resolution category of the DDA Waiting List, the House has NOT taken any action on the House bill, sponsored by Delegate Bonnie Cullison!
With only two weeks left in the session, it is critical that our grassroots advocates make their voices heard.
Whether you are on the Waiting List, you have been on the Waiting List in the past and are now receiving supports, you are a provider, a family member, or a staff person - now is the time to advocate for people in the greatest need.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
There has never been enough funding for people on the Waiting List – even those in the highest crisis category.
- SB 413/HB 1499 provides a long-term solution to help meet the needs of people in Crisis Resolution on the Waiting List by mandating that the Governor include funding in his budget annually.
- Approximately 110 people annually are deemed by DDA to be in Crisis Resolution, meaning that they are at risk of homelessness, loss of caregiver, or risk of harm to themselves or others within 6 months!
The General Assembly is carefully considering any budget mandate they put forward to the Governor, and funding for people in crisis on the DDA Waiting List needs to be a top priority!
Please email or call the following House leaders and urge their support for SB 413/HB 1499 – Developmental Disabilities Administration – Crisis Resolution and Prevention Resolution Services – Funding and Reporting.
